Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has hailed the efforts and initiatives of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to establish more medical institutes as part of the leadership’s continuous policy of developing all sectors, including health care.

Shaikh Hamdan, who is also Chancellor of UAE University, was commenting on Shaikh Mohammad’s recent issuance of Cabinet Resolution No 28 of 2014 on the establishment of the UAE National Institute for Medical Specialisations (NIMS) under the umbrella of UAEU.

The minister affirmed that the ministry and the university are prepared to contribute to the success of the efforts to advance the academic and professional level of workers of all the health-care sectors in the UAE and affiliated bodies.

The institute aims to develop the country’s health-care sector by helping to upgrade medical cadres through continuous training in cooperation with national and international educational institutions.

Published in the latest edition of the Official Gazette, Cabinet Resolution No 28 of 2014 includes a number of articles prescribing NIMS’s objectives, structure, authorities, obligations and limitations.
