Dubai: A delegation from the Hamdan Bin Mohammad Heritage Centre attended a meeting at the Unesco headquarters in Paris to discuss safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage.

The meeting took place from October 19 to October 21 and was attended by a number of directors from the centre, including officials from both parties.

Cecil Duval, head of the department of intangible cultural heritage at Unesco, commended the efforts of the centre to preserve and restore the culture and heritage of the UAE even before the formal establishment of the centre, by organising traditional championships as well as other cultural programmes that boost community engagement.

She said that Unesco will fully support the centre’s mission and all their endeavours “which have ensured that Dubai and UAE maintain their heritage and traditions in the midst of massive developments and widespread globalisation, providing citizens as well as visitors with a valuable insight into the nation’s diverse culture and heritage.”
