Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has issued Resolution No 24 for 2013, approving the organisational structure of the Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) Licensing Agency in Dubai.

Shaikh Hamdan approved Dubai Executive Council Resolution No 23 of 2013 concerning the regulation of supplementary traffic signs which are used to guide the public to cultural, tourist and commercial facilities as well as the location of events in the emirate.

Resolution 23 aims to assist and guide the public to correct entry routes leading to these sites while taking into consideration the overall appearance of the city as well as public safety when placing such signs.

The resolution prohibits the placement of traffic signs on roads without approval from the RTA, which will also determine where such signs should be placed. The resolution also defines approval guidelines concerning the shape, size and other details of these traffic signs.

All entities that have traffic guide signs described by Resolution No 23 of 2013 should guarantee their compliance with the provisions of the resolution within three months. The chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority has the right to extend the grace period for an additional three months.

The resolution is effective from its date of issuance and shall be published in the official gazette.
