Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stressed that the Arab region is on the threshold of accelerated economic, political and social changes, and that governments are demanded to build flexible policies to absorb social and strategic changes to overcome economic challenges, in addition to a lot of wisdom to overcome political congestions.

This came in a speech before the opening of the Arab Strategy Forum where an elite of Arab and international thinkers and experts will take part to discuss the future of the world and the region politically and economically through 2015.

Shaikh Mohammad added that all the politicians, economists and thinkers are required to search for answers regarding the future and its changes because a part of investing in the future is to invest in knowing this future and modify tools and plans accordingly.

He added that to succeed in this changing world we always need a clear and well-established vision, with flexible and variable plans that keep pace on the short run.

He also pointed out that the UAE today has its economic and political weight in the region and across the world.

“This is due to the fact that we began early in the studying the future and the magnitude of the changes it holds , which helped us greatly in making the  right decisions and policies within a long-term vision to achieve prosperity for our people. Today we are in a more complex regional neighborhood and a more interdependent global economy and a world of fast technical changes more than ever before. Hence, the need to invest more in knowledge of the future has doubled and to be prepared for all its variables,” he said.
