Abu Dhabi:  The Federal National Council (FNC) yesterdaypassed three draft
bills at its sixth meeting, which was chaired by its Speaker Abdul Aziz
Abdullah Al Ghurair.

The FNC, the country's parliament, also opened a discussion on the policy of
the Federal Authority of Government Human Resources.

The Federal draft bill introducing amendments to the Law No.24/Year 2006 was
the first one to be approved by the FNC in today's session.

The FNC also passed the federal draft bill that amended a number of provisions
of the Law No.16/Year 1980 which had set up the Emirates General Petroleum
Corporation.

The FNC also passed a draft bill that abolishes the federal law No. 3/Year
1982 setting up the General Information Authority (GIA) including all the
amendments introduced to that law.

The new draft law justifies the abolition of this law on the grounds that an
alternative and single authority regulating the IT and telecommunications has
been set up on the federal governmental level under the name of the
Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).

Tuesday's session at the FNC House in Abu Dhabi was attended, among others, by
Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for FNC Affairs
Dr. Anwar Mohammad Gargash, Minister of Economy Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri,
Minister of State for Finance Affairs and Chairman of the Emirates General
Petroleum Corporation Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Cabinet
Affairs Mohammad Abdullah Al Gargawi and Minister of Education Humaid Bin
Mohammad Al Qatami.
