Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, urged all Emiratis to double their efforts and make every possible effort to translate President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s vision into reality.

In a statement to Dira’a Al Watan magazine on the UAE’s 41st National Day, Shaikh Mohammad said Shaikh Khalifa is shouldering his national duty and responsibility to continue the march of the founding fathers and achieve the impossible without compromising national principles. “We are steadily moving towards building a solid knowledge-based economy that focuses on diversifying sources of income and preserving national resources for the generations to come.

“We shoulder our responsibility and national duty for the benefit of the nation and its citizens by adhering to the principles of our constitution in order to safeguard people’s rights and liberties and respect the law,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

“As we greet December 2 every year, we remember this red letter day and examine the lessons we learnt throughout history from one generation to another. On this day, we remember the founding fathers and builders of the nation — we recall the memories and events that marked a turning point in the history of this nation, looking to a brighter future,” the Crown Prince said.

“The National Day is an opportunity to remember and recall the establishment of our dear nation and the faithful leaders who shouldered their national responsibility with strong will, determination and dedication, to fulfil the hopes and aspirations of their people. The leaders fulfilled their promises and created a role model for a modern country that emerged from the sands of the dry desert — men with dreams, hopes and trust in God and their people’s ability to make the impossible happen,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

He said that the founding leaders invested in Emirati human resources and sought assistance from brothers and friends. They worked ceaselessly and finally managed to achieve the miracle of building a modern country.

“As we celebrate the National Day, we should review the great deal of achievements that never stopped since the stage of establishment, but moved forward to the era of empowerment with immense advancement in health care and education, among other fields,” Shaikh Mohammad said.

He also highlighted Emirati women’s success in playing their part and occupying leading positions and playing the required role in building their country and shaping its future.

“Today, we have a responsibility to draw up the present and future of our country, whose foundations were laid by the founding fathers. We renew the pledge of allegiance and loyalty to the leader of the nation, Shaikh Khalifa, and we promise that we will spare no effort and sacrifice everything to meet the aspirations of our people for the prosperity and progress of the country,” he said.
