Abu Dhabi: Emirates Identity Authority (Emirates ID) announced that it will open six new registration centres with Preventative Medicine Centres (PMCs) during this month in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah emirates.

Then the total number of registration centres will go up to 26 by the end of 2011 under the project liking visa medical test and ID card registration, said a statement issued by Emirates ID Tuesday.

ID card registration has become mandatory for issuing and renewal of residence visas in the emirates of Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah. It will be extended to Dubai emirate in April next year in coordination with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs.

The new six registration centres which are due to open within the coming two weeks are in the emirates of Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah , and in the areas of Al Quoz, Satwa and Jafza in Dubai, as well as in Al Jazira building in Abu Dhabi.

The registration centre in the Preventive Medicine Centre in Al Quoz, Dubai allows the registration of about 700 applicants per day , while the centre in Satwa will register for about 1000 applicants per day in two shifts. In addition the Jabel Ali Free Zone centre will register about 250 applicants.

Moreover the two registration centres linked to PMCs in Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman can register approximately 600 applicants each per day. The centre in the Capitala’s Preventive Medicine Centre as part of Mubadala group in Abu Dhabi can register 450 applicants a day.

In addition Emirates ID is working on opening two new centres.

During the first quarter of next year Muhaisna and Baraha areas in Dubai will have a new registration center each in Preventive Medicine Centres . Muhaisna centre is one of the largest registration centres in the country and is designed to facilitate the registration of more than 3000 applicants a day

Emirates ID expressed its gratitude to all government agencies that contributed to the success of this project, especially the Ministries of Interior and Health in addition to health authorities and free zones.

They predict that after the initiation of linkage between residency visas and ID card registrations across the country the capacity for daily registrations will reach 22, 000 applications. It will be equivalent to around half a million registrations per month through their registration centres linked to PMCs and all other registrations centres under the Authority.
