Dubai: Global Village, a major tourism attraction in Dubai, will remain open until March 31 instead of its earlier closing date of March 3, after His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, issued an order to that effect.
Shaikh Mohammad also ordered all government departments to continue providing all necessary support and services to ensure the success of the Global Village.
Shaikh Mohammad's order comes within the framework of maximising the cultural and social gains from the Global Village, which is a very popular destination among Emirati families, expatriates, and visitors from all over the world.
During the past four months, more than four million people from the UAE and abroad have visited the Global Village, during which the event has also attract a large number of investors, and also reported revenues estimated at Dh2 billion.
This year's edition has seen the participation of 45 countries in 30 pavilions of unique designs that depict each individual country's cultural identity.
Several UAE government departments are also participating in the Global Village this year to raise awareness about their services.
