Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday visited the new building of the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology of Dubai Police.

The Dh370 million eco-friendly facility is the first of its kind in the Middle East in terms of hi-tech equipment and modern technology, as well as area.

Shaikh Mohammad, accompanied by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, was welcomed by Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, and a number of department heads, police officers and CID officials.

Shaikh Mohammad congratulated the police chief, department directors and staff on the achievement that will become a cultural, technology and scientific landmark upon completion in the near future.

Building design

Shaikh Mohammad viewed the blueprints and engineering designs of the building as well as its interior and exterior divisions. He was briefed on the international standards followed in the construction of the national security education institution, which has been awarded the LEED certificate from the US Green Building Council.

The building comprises six departments, including training and development, technical affairs, forensic evidence and e-forensics and criminology.

Shaikh Mohammad expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the landmark project, which will contribute to developing the performance and efficiency of the CID. He issued instructions to intensify training courses for youth and provide them with all possible support to encourage them to engage in these courses.
