Dr Amal to chair FNC meeting
Sixth ordinary session of House heralds landmark moment for UAE women
The decision reflects the success of Emirati women and their effective participation in the decision-making process. The decision reflects the keenness of the nation’s leadership to empower women and enhance their participation in all walks of life.
The FNC has gained special attention ever since the political programme initiated by Shaikh Khalifa in 2005 which set in motion the election of half of the members of FNC for 2006 and 2011 and the participation of women as candidates in elections and as members of the FNC in the 14th and 15 legislative chapters.
The late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan was a staunch believer in the capabilities of women and their role in nation-building.
It may be recalled that Shaikh Khalifa had issued Decree No. 6 of 2007 to set up the FNC and appointed eight women as members of the council then. One woman was also elected to the House then.
