Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Interior’s Department of Naturalisation, Residency and Borders Affairs has granted Emirati citizenship to 106 individuals who are sons of Emirati women.

The move comes as part of a federal decree issued by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Major General Nasser Lakhreibani Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, congratulated the beneficiaries of the decree and called on them to be Emirati role models who care for the UAE’s reputation. Al Nuaimi urged them to embody the UAE’s cultural and civilised values, abide by the UAE constitution and laws, and respect Arab traditions, customs and norms.

He stressed that the UAE leadership is keen on working towards providing all means of security and leisure for society, in a way that ensures continued progress and development to cement the UAE as a model of prosperity on the regional and global level.

The citizenship and family books were handed to the 106 beneficiaries by Colonel Juma Al Khaili, Acting Director of the Directorate of Naturalisation.

The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Shaikh Khalifa, and said that this gesture will have a great impact on their vocational and social life.

Salem Obaid Al Ka’abi, a beneficiary who has a bachelors degree in law from Ajman University, said that the initiatives launched by Shaikh Khalifa always benefit Emiratis, adding that the UAE President spares no effort to ensure a dignified life for Emiratis. He pointed out that the achievements accomplished by the UAE for its citizens stems from Shaikh Khalifa’s awareness that family unity leads to a stable society.

Badr Mohammad Al Hosani, a government employee, said that Shaikh Khalifa’s resolution warmed his heart, and vowed to the UAE President that he will safeguard and preserve the UAE citizenship. He added that the citizenship is a badge of honour which he is extremely proud of, and he pointed out that he had always exerted all necessary efforts for the service of the nation because he has always considered himself a citizen of the UAE.
