Ministers discuss future plans for the development of the country

Liwa: The Cabinet council reviewed the achieved Federal Government's strategic components in its first phase extending from 2008 to 2010.
The Cabinet Retreat began yesterday, chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at the Mirage Castle (Qasr Al Sarab) Desert Resort, Liwa, Al Gharbia (formerly the Western Region).
Also present were Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
Shaikh Mohammad expresses his contentment over choosing this historical location for the Cabinet's retreat for this year. He also said that the quiet atmosphere derived from the UAE's Sahara's calmness will assist the Cabinet in yielding positive results to the benefit of the nation and its people.
A number of ministers also talked about the practical application of their ministry's strategies and future plans to start the second phase of the government strategy to extend from 2011 -2013.
The priorities of the second phase are embodied in building a cohesive society which maintains its identity and applies President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's speech where he emphasised the importance of the community's solidarity and maintaining its national identity through deepening the essence of loyalty to the country and its leadership.
Educational system
The government's strategy in its second phase set a high educational system as the most important priority of the coming phase. Additional emphases were made on improving and boosting the educational outcomes and the usage of developed and modern teaching methods, while utilising international standards and criteria in measuring educational quality in national universities and colleges.
The health system was also among the strategic priorities especially in the context of applying international standards in stepping up health and medical care services in the UAE's hospitals and medical facilities.
A safe and secure society, a just legal system, a sustainable environment, a comprehensive infrastructure and a distinguished status for the UAE internationally were also on the list of priorities.
The government strategy that was reviewed by the Cabinet also touched upon the strategic empowerment which includes qualified human resources, government services directed towards the people, an efficient financial administration, a wise establishment governance, interactive government networks, integrated policies, vital laws and direct government connection which is both transparent and credible.

After the meeting, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid and General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who attended a part of the meetings, discussed the most important national strategy points which were discussed in the Cabinet retreat.
Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed expressed his confidence and trust in the efforts of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid in taking the Cabinet's decisions towards its targets and achieving the supreme national goals of the nation and its people.
A part of the Cabinet meeting was also attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region.
