Abu Dhabi: The Cabinet has approved a plan to enhance national values and noble manners among Emirati younger generations.

The campaign was approved at Sunday's Cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi.

The initiative, presented by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development, will be implemented in line with an action plan to be set by the ministry in cooperation with public and private bodies, to cultivate original values and noble behaviours among Emirati generations to come.

The plan, targeting school and university students and minors at home, will be implemented through the media and education materials.

The Cabinet discussed a number of topics including a report on the performance of ministries and government bodies for 2009.

The Ministry of Public Works has been selected the best body for achieving the highest level of performance, while the Shaikh Zayed Housing Programme has been named the best body for achieving the required level of performance.

The Cabinet approved Dh1.27 billion for housing and appointed the Labour Minister as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia).

Shaikh Mohammad announced the results and congratulated Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works and Chairman of the housing programme, and all employees of both bodies.
