Authority launched to boost national identity
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued a law establishing the Dubai Community Development Authority.
Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued a law establishing the Dubai Community Development Authority.
The authority has been set up to enhance national identity and activate the role of Emirati citizens in social life.
Shaikh Mohammad appointed Dr Mariam Mohammad Mattar as Director-General of the new authority.
The new government agency will play a significant role in achieving the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015, announced earlier by Shaikh Mohammad to provide high quality social services in keeping with community requirements.
Wise leadership
The authority will cooperate with the Ministry of Social Affairs and other government bodies in supporting sustainable social development and economic growth.
It will provide its services in stages starting from next year.
Ahmad Bin Biyat, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council, said that the launch of the new authority comes in line with Dubai's wise leadership plan to achieve social integration, in Dubai's multi-national society.
"The authority will coordinate efforts with other bodies to achieve a prosperous and stable society while preserving the national identity of Emiratis," he added.
