Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has confirmed the safety of Lipton tea products in the markets of Abu Dhabi emirate, following the circulation of rumours through YouTube alleging the existence of hallucinogenic substances in the company’s products.
Mohammad Jalal Al Raisi, Director of Communication and Community Service at the ADFCA, said that the inspectors conducted a comprehensive survey on tea sales in retail outlets in in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region, pointing out that the physical examination showed lack of any impurities or hallucinogenic substances in different tested teabags.
Al Raisi said that all the samples that were tested in the outlets are produced by the UAE. With regard to the imported shipments, he noted that the last shipment came from Lebanon, and was found to be safe before being displayed in the markets of the emirate.
ADFCA has confirmed Lipton tea products are safe.
