Mersin (WAM) Two ships loaded with UAE-Turkey humanitarian aid for the Libyan people departed from Mersin Port, Turkey.

The move is within the framework of joint-aid provided by the UAE and Turkey for the Libyan people.

The aid, valued at $4 million dollars, consists of 32 tonnes of medical supply and 388 tonnes of staple foodstuff.

It also includes 2,000 tents, 20,000 blankets, and 72 tonnes of drinking water, in addition to two mobile kitchens and bakeries that are able to produce 10,000 bread loaves a day.

The distribution of aid will be supervised by a team of 29 prople from the UAE and Turkish Red Crescent, out of which 16 are from the UAE and 13 are from Turkey.

The ship, accompanied and guarded by a Turkish army vessel, is expected to reach Benghazi Monday.
