Dubai: Dubai’s expert execution of mega projects will be in focus as world leaders in project management gather for the first Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF) starting on Sunday.

The three-day event, organised by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in association with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), Emaar Properties and Project Management Institute, will highlight Dubai’s growth over the past decade and shed light on the best practices in the industry.

Laila Faridoon, head of RTA Projects Management Team, said: “Our vision for DIPMF’s contribution to Project Management revolves around two axes: Making Dubai a hub and centre of excellence for Project Management not only in the GCC, but also internationally, and translating project management literature into Arabic.”

The forum will see Mark Langley, president and executive director of the Project Management Institute, as well as Dr Harold Kerzner, engineer and management consultant from the US among others as the leading speakers.

Dr Kerzner has authored 22 books in project management since 1979 and has conducted more than 140 work papers among other numerous articles in project management.

According to Laila, among the RTA’s key objectives is harness local and regional talent in project management and produce cadres of world-class calibre.
