Gale force winds of up to 40 knots could lash the east coast of the UAE today, forecasters warned yesterday.
The force eight winds could cause waves of up to 25 feet, leading to continued flooding, although the downgrading of the cyclone might lead to an easing of yesterday's severe conditions.
A duty forecaster at Dubai International Airport said there was also a possibility of rain on the east coast today.
The northern emirates could also get a soaking, as could Hatta and upland parts of the country.
Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah could experience more windy conditions that could whip up dust and reduce visibility, with the maximum wind speed likely to be about 25 knots.
Despite the windy conditions, rainfall in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah is unlikely although it cannot be ruled out, forecasters said.
