Sharjah – Sharjah Municipality has announced that new property owners in Sharjah are now required to install a cooling device in their water tanks.
The announcement was made after the municipality made several amendments to the technical requirements related to water systems in buildings in Sharjah, said Engineer Abdul Aziz Al Mansouri, Assistant Director of Sharjah Municipality for Technical Affairs.
He added that the move was made to address the problem of high temperature of water faced by many residents in Sharjah.
Under the new law, property owners of old buildings in the emirate will also have to comply with the requirements by installing cooling devices or shielding the water tanks from the strong sun especially during the summer months.
The municipality has set up inspection teams to increase safety measures and ensure that buildings are complying with the new rules. They are also encouraging property owners to use water heaters that are eco-friendly and operate on solar power.
Easy application process
Hoping to simplify the process of carrying out the required maintenance, the municipality will issue renovation permits to property owners shortly after applying.
Maintenance permits will be issued by the Engineering Department in the Nassriyah area of Sharjah while permits for cleaning companies will be issued by the Department of Solid Waste located at industrial Area three.
