UAE residents warned to stay away from valleys due to fear of flash floods

Dubai: Residents in the UAE are being warned to stay away from Wadi (valley) areas for the rest of the week and into the weekend, because of a risk of flash flooding.
Wet weather conditions are set to continue for the rest of the week and into the weekend, with some risks of local flooding and large puddles collecting.
Clive Stephens, Duty Forecaster, Dubai Meteorological Office, said: "We have issued warnings for the airfields in Dubai and the northern emirates as lightning has been reported and thunderstorms have been developing over the sea. Most of the showers have been over the sea, but we can't rule out showers affecting mountain areas, so it's not advisable to go camping or go near the Wadis."
Dubai, along with the UAE, still has a risk of heavy showers and there is a chance of strong winds. Residents are advised to tie down garden furniture and external belongings if winds pick up, to prevent belongings blowing into the roads over the next three days.
Temperatures will be a maximum 24C across the emirates, falling to 15-16C at night.
"It will be very cool and showery over the next four days and into the weekend," Stephens said.

Due to the tropical weather back in my country, rain is very common. Ever since I have been in Dubai I have found that it is very minimal. I wish would rain more often in the UAE, it helps lower the hot temperature.

A little rain shower will be enough to at least clean up the air from dust.

Rain is amazing. It seems to put a smile on many people's faces. After the heat, sand and dust settles from the rain, it is wonderful to see the true beauty of Dubai, as the rain washes away the layers of grime.
