UAE minister announces plans to fight marine pollution and build new dams
The Minister of Environment and Water on Tuesday promised a new plan to fight marine pollution in cooperation with a United Nations Development Programme.
Fujairah: The Minister of Environment yesterday promised a new plan to fight marine pollution in cooperation with a United Nations Development Programme.
Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahd was speaking during a visit to the East Coast on the International Earth Day.
The minister did not reveal more details but said it was part of a number of new measures which also include the introduction of a new environmental law pertaining to the stone-crushing industry.
Consultation
He said the paper for the new law is still under consultation and appraisal by both government ministries and local governments of the Northern emirates pending its review by the ministerial council.
The Environment Minister also announced plans to build 68 new dams in the northern emirates, 37 of which will be in Fujairah.
