Dubai: The day-time temperature touched a high of 45C in some areas of the emirates on Tuesday, much above average for May, but luckily it will be very dry and comfortable for a couple of days because of low humidity.

It is usually 39C at this time of year, according to the duty forecaster at the Dubai Met Office. Humidity is at an all-time low, making it very dry but comfortable, according to the duty forecaster at the Dubai met Office.

In some areas such as Jebel Ali and Minhad airforce station outside Dubai, it touched 45 degrees. While in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi it was a degree cooler at 44C.

According to the Sharjah weather bureau, it will get even hotter, touching 48C early June. "The all-time high in June in Sharjah was 49.2C in 1979," said the duty forecaster. "This is the dry-air season," he said.

When the humidity increases, doctors advise people to stay out of the sun so as not to dehydrate. The elderly and the young are vulnerable to the heat. Doctors advise sipping water and using sun lotions and moisturisers.

The UV Index is at 10. This index is an international measurement to show how strong the radiation from the Sun is.

Have you been feeling the heat lately? Has the temperature risen compared to the same time last year?

I'm already cringing over the current hairdryer wind! Especially being a site coordinator outdoors at site daily can be tough. As a newbie here, not sure if i can handle the 45 degrees above heat June onwards.

i feel the temperature has been increasing more and more at the start of summer. Doctors advice to be out of sun. But i feel the temperature has been increasing from morning to night per hour. How do children go to school? So difficult.

It is practically impossible to tread out in the mid afternoon. It is unbearably hot from around 12 noon to 3 p.m. As compared to last year the temperature this year seems to be higher. Even with an umbrella and sun glasses I found it difficult to walk down to the nearby supermarket. It is best to avoid the afternoon sun and preferably keep most of the outdoor chores for the evening. Last year it wasnt so bad. Hope the temperature falls a bit as children have school till the third week of June.
