Dubai: Two marine mammals were found washed up on a Jebel Ali beach a day apart by the Emirates Marine Environment Group (EMEG) last Sunday.

A finless porpoise, classified as ‘vulnerable' by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List was found dead last Sunday at the Waterfront next to Palm Jebel Ali.

The next day, a male Indo-Pacific Humpback dolphin was found around the same place. It measured 2.39 metres long and is classified as ‘Near Threatened' by IUCN Red List.

According to EMEG, he died following vessel strikes.

However, its caudal fin (tail) was missing, as well as the top of its dorsal fin. The dolphin seemed to be healthy before he died.
