Al Ain: The temperature has shot up to 49 degree Celsius in Al Ain and some other parts of the country on Sunday, forcing people to stay indoors.
Sunday turned out to be the hottest day of the year in Al Ain and some other interior parts of the country; rising humidity in the costal cities also added to public discomfort.
"It is the hottest day of the year in the interior parts of the UAE," said a weatherman, noting that the temperature has gone to the maximum level and people must take protective measures.
Streets and markets wore a deserted look around noon.
Weatherman said hot and hazy weather conditions would continue during the next week.
The temperatures and humidity level will continue to remain high. National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) predicted hot and hazy weather with low clouds over the eastern parts of the emirates for the next 48 hours.
Dusty conditions are also expected in some areas. The sea is expected to be calm with wave height of two to three feet.
According to the NCMS, maximum temperate is expected to remain between 34 to 43 degree Celsius in coastal areas, 33 to 41 degree Celsius in mountainous areas and 43 to 49 degree Celsius in the interior desert areas.
