More eco-friendly ways to clean cars

More techniques to save water are becoming available to residents and more specifically, motorists.

Dubai: More techniques to save water are becoming available to residents and more specifically, motorists.

Washing your car uses over 100 litres of water. Now the Emirates National Oil Company (Enoc) is offering an alternative to high pressure water cleaning facilities as part of a go green waterless car wash initiative.

The initiative allows car owners to have their cars cleaned and shined without using a drop of water.

Fine mist

The new concept saves water and prevents detergents from polluting the environment with its new No-Wet technique, an all-in-one eco-friendly car wash liquid. No-Wet is made from 17 ingredients including kaolin clay and carnauba wax. It is sprayed on in a fine mist and the formula encapsulates dirt and other contaminants. The No-Wet liquid is then wiped off with a soft terry towel, without damaging the surface.

This process leaves a fine film of polish and wax behind, which is then buffed with a micro fibre cloth.

"We are committed to using the latest technologies. The No-Wet technique can save up to 150 litres of water per manual car wash and is a genuine environmentally-friendly, biodegradable waterless car cleaner," Saeed Khoury, Enoc Group Chief Executive, said.

The service takes 20 minutes and costs Dh50 for saloon cars and Dh55 for four-wheel drives. There are only two Enoc stations offering the service at the moment, in Mirdif and the Gardens.

Another waterless car cleaner was launched last week. Bio Wash Waterless Car Care claims to wash all types of cars without water. It will be available in supermarkets soon.
