Captain Musa Murad, Director General of the port, said closing the port comes after confirming that sea sailing is risky for ships within the hurricane's area.
All ships have been removed from the port, and the ships berthing on the emirate's coast have been instructed to move to safer places.
There are more than 100 ships berthing on Fujairah's coast and the UAE's eastern coast, while 180 ships pass through everyday, most of which are oil carriers.
Khor Fakkan Port has also been closed for sea navigation as well.
