Fujairah: The east coast of UAE woke up to an improved weather outlook on Thursday, easing fears of further flooding.

The rain storms, forecast for the area, ultimately did not materialize and only some light rain fell overnight.

Flood waters levels have receded in Fujairah and in Kalba, but relocated families are still to return to their homes.

Last night, an unseasonably cool evening drew out many residents as some flouted advice to stay away from the corniche areas in Fujairah and Kalba.

Authorities in Fujairah moved quickly to secure roads close to beach areas from further rise in water levels by erecting metre-high barriers of crushed stone.
