Dust storms expected to hit UAE on Wednesday
Another bad weather system is heading towards UAE, bringing with it thunderstorms, rain and dust storms.
Al Ain: Another bad weather system is heading towards UAE, bringing with it thunderstorms, rain and dust storms.
The system, which is currently developing over the eastern Saudi Arabia, is gradually moving towards the UAE and is expected to disturb the weather pattern here from Wednesday morning. "The conditions will be dusty and windy in most parts of the country during the weekends,'' said Dr S. K. Gupta, a forecaster at Dubai Met Office.
He said weather will start improving from late Friday night and Saturday morning. "Isolated showers and thunderstorms are also expected, but their chances are stronger in Ras Al Khaimah and other northern emirates,'' he said.
North-easterly and south-easterly winds will be of category six that is close to the warning level. He said at this level wind speed reaches 40 to 40km/h that kicks up dust and sand, thus affecting visibility.
Conditions would be difficult in the open and interior areas and motorists need to be careful on the highways, he said. People having breathing problems will also need to be cautious outdoor due to the suspended dust partials in the air.
