Teenage Emirati dies after four-wheel-drive vehicle skids due to rain

Sharjah: A 17-year-old Emirati boy was killed and his two friends were seriously injured in a traffic accident on Saturday evening, said a police official.

The official said that the boy was killed when their four-wheel-drive vehicle skidded on Al Dhaid Road due to rain. The victim ,identified M.H.A was killed, on the spot while his two friends Y.M.A, 20, and Y.M.T, 17, were serious injuries, said Major Khalid Al Kay, deputy director of the traffic department at the Sharjah Police.

The accident took place at around 6.30pm on Sharjah-Al Dhaid road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, reportedly due to slippery road during the rain. The victim was sitting on the passenger’s seat.

Police ambulance transferred the passengers to Al Dhaid hospital where one of them pronounced dead while the other two youths received treatment at the hospital. The body of the victim was transferred to Al Qasimi hospital, Major Al Kay said. The case was transferred to Al Madam police to determine the cause.
