Dubai: New creative ideas are being shared between education staff members from all over the world at the Women’s Education Worldwide (WEW) Conference.
WEW is an organisation established in 2003 to bring together staff from women’s colleges and universities from around the world to share ideas, collect and disseminate data about women’s colleges and to foster exchange among institutions to advocate women’s education worldwide.
The three-day conference is running under the theme “Collaboration: the Way Forward” at the Higher Colleges of Technology and is being attended by 50 women from countries including the US, Canada, Japan, the Philippines, China, India, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Italy.
Candy McLeod, a steering committee member of WEW said: “The conference is organised to bring together faculty from institutions from the Women’s Worldwide network, it is the second time we had a conference for faculty so that they can find new and innovative ways of collaborating and coming up with ideas of how we can get our students engaged on a global scale.”
Some of the collaborative ideas that were discussed included taking advantage of technology by having face-to-face video calls with each other, coming up with a WEW magazine, more conference opportunities and more international exchanges.
The conference also provides exiting collaboration opportunities between faculty and students such as virtual international exchanges between students, international study tours abroad, visits by international students to the HCT and collaborative research opportunities for students and faculty.
