The University of Dubai (UD) celebrated the graduation of its eighth batch of students last week. The event was held under the patronage of Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture.

A total of 124 graduates from the College of Business Administration and the College of Information Technology received their degrees at the event which was witnessed by 900 guests, including VIPs, dignitaries, educational administrators, alumni, parents, staff, faculty and students.

UD President Dr Omar Hefni, said: "We are extremely happy to be celebrating the successful graduation of the eighth batch of students from the Colleges of Business Administration and Information Technology. And I once more take this opportunity to congratulate them on this successful accomplishment in their academic careers. Their degree, which is a true milestone in a student's life, will serve as an invaluable foundation for their future career success and development. This is the reason why we make every effort to make our courses up-to-date by including the latest educational advances in the fields of business and technology and endeavour to turn out students who are well-rounded individuals, accomplished and confident enough to handle future challenges in their chosen fields."

Inspiring talk

Majid Al Shamsi, President of the Board of Trustees, spoke on the value and importance of education, the large responsibility which lies on the shoulders of the younger generation and innovation as the key to progress in society.

He said: "I am pleased to know that the university is working along the exact lines envisioned by its patron, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. I am sure these fresh graduates will utilise all their talents, energies, passion and commitment in the development of their countries."
