Top law school to offer graduate courses in Dubai
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority along with the St Joseph University (USJ) of Beirut will offer a four-year Bachelor of Law degree from September.

Dubai: The Knowledge and Human Development Authority along with the St Joseph University (USJ) of Beirut will offer a four-year Bachelor of Law degree from September.
At a press conference on Wednesdayy, Mohammad Al Muhairi, Director of Legal and Strategic Affairs of the Executive Council, said the justice and security sector need human resources.
The college, to be known as the University of St Joseph Dubai College of Law, will offer a customised programme for Dubai, which will incorporate Sharia, French, Arabic and European law, said Prof Fayez Chahine, Dean of the Faculty of Law.
The college will qualify lawyers to work in fields such as the Public Prosecution office and Immigration and Customs. It also aims to equip lawyers with the skills to later become judges in Dubai's courts system, as well as future leaders for the country for whom a background in law will be invaluable, said UAE legal advisor Habib Al Mulla.
Al Muhairi said His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, encourages the involvement of females in the legal system, which is why having a top university in Dubai will help females who cannot travel abroad to pursue their higher education.
USJ President Professor Rene Chamussy said the Dubai campus will be USJ's first outside of Lebanon. "We aim to give ... the very best legal education."
