Teaching standards at UAE public schools will be improved says official
More than 1,200 people took part in the First International School Leadership Conference held in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Abu Dhabi: More than 1,200 people took part in the First International School Leadership Conference held in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.
Officials highlighted the need for school leadership practices to improve the performance of students across the UAE.
The initiative is organised by the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC).
Government schools in Abu Dhabi will undergo major reforms, including improvement in the standard of teaching, innovations, challenges and transitions that influence school leadership, said Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of ADEC.
Dr Hanif Hassan, Minister of Education, said: "I am pleased to be with you today and participate in this important conference focused on school leadership. I want to congratulate ADEC for organising this event and for bringing together such a distinguished panel of presenters.
"We require our school leaders to demonstrate proficiency in administrative and instructional use of technology and to become proficient in the English language. We have also developed, in cooperation with higher education institutions in the UAE, a series of school leadership modules based upon internationally accepted best practice. All UAE school leaders will eventually be required to complete the modules and demonstrate their proficiency to become UAE certified school leaders. We are also encouraging our school leaders to complete a Master's Degree in newly developed programmes on school leadership at our higher education institutions."
