Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the American University of Sharjah (AUS), received on Monday Professor Michael Arthur, President and Provost of University College London (UCL).
Dr Shaikh Sultan and Arthur discussed a broad range of academic, cultural and architectural issues of mutual interest and ways of enhancing academic cooperation between the two institutions.
They also reviewed the cultural and art events Sharjah is hosting as part of its celebrations as Capital of Islamic Culture for 2014.
Dr Shaikh Sultan was briefed by Arthur on UCL’s present and future programmes. Arthur later visited the Sultan Al Qasimi Centre of Gulf Studies and familiarised himself with its rare manuscripts, maps and images of the Arabian Gulf, as well as other private collections of Dr Shaikh Sultan.
