Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, yesterday presented certificates to 389 students comprising the fifth batch of graduates from the Colleges of Medicine and Health Sciences of the university.

Dr Shaikh Sultan said, “The fundamental core of medical colleges is based primarily on good conduct as it is a profession dedicated to serving human beings at the most critical stages of their life.”

Dr Shaikh Sultan congratulated the graduates and their families who waited for 20 years to witness their sons and daughters’ graduation ceremony, and to see them receive their academic certificates.

He also congratulated the academic faculty for seeing the fruit of their efforts.

UAE nationals account for 40 per cent of the student body in most colleges, said Dr Shaikh Sultan, noting that this would help the University of Sharjah’s medical colleges rank first across the UAE in terms of university qualifications of nationals.

“I am pleased to shake hands with the best male and female students who have attained their university degrees with merit and will join the graduates of the previous years to provide excellent health-care services at hospitals and health centres,” Dr Shaikh Sultan said.

Later, Dr Shaikh Sultan attended the signing of a cooperation and academic expertise exchange agreement between UoS and the USA’s Medical College of Wisconsin. As per the agreement, UoS and MCW will cooperate in programmes pertaining to medicine, hospitals and research centres.
