Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police have denied local media reports that said that a gang of thieves, who broke into schools in the emirate, have been arrested.

Colonel Hammad Ahmad Al Hammadi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) denied the reports and said; "The Abu Dhabi Police have always embraced the principle of transparency in its relations with citizens and residents, and are keen to publish any information that concerns society."

He highlighted the importance of the media, a key partner of Abu Dhabi police, enhancing its channel of communication with members of society.

Al Hammadi admitted that several thefts took place recently in a number of schools.

He said investigations and the hunt for three perpetrators are ongoing, he promised to reveal any developments as they happen.

Abu Dhabi Police called on government and public schools to enhance their cooperation with the police and provide security measures to avoid any possible thefts.

They underlined the importance of day and night shifts and the necessity to tighten windows and doors to secure valuables and money.
