Dubai: The American University in Dubai (AUD) held its 13th graduation ceremony at the Shaikh Rashid Hall of the Dubai International World Trade Centre, yesterday.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, along with the President and Vice-President of the university handed out certificates to 500 graduating students in the fields of Business Administration, Information Technology, Civil Engineering and other fields.

During the ceremony, which was attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Shaikh Mohammad shook hands with the graduates, congratulating and wishing them additional advances and success in their scientific endeavours.

Shaikh Saeed Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum was also among the graduates.

Elias Bou Sa'ab, AUD's Executive Vice-President said in his speech that the university prepares its graduates to face different challenges and overcome obstacles through strong will and thought and vision, inspired by Shaikh Mohammad who has personally guided all the university's programmes and activities.

Guest host and speaker Lou Dobbs praised the UAE's rise which achieved fame all around the globe.

In the closing speech, Dr Lance de Massi, President of AUD, called on all graduates to alter challenges into opportunities that will achieve their dreams. He also urged students to walk the path of creativity and innovation, and to change the current reality into a brighter one that will help accomplish peace and stability.
