Abu Dhabi: Teachers, which have always been a symbolic source of knowledge are now facing ever more challenges to their authority and so must continuously adapt to reinforce their position.
This was highlighted at the opening session of the final day of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research's (ECCSR) second annual Education Conference, which is held under the theme of ‘Essentials of School Education in the United Arab Emirates'.
"The educational world is very different today than it was in the past decade…now, we have to focus on modern ways that allow teachers and students to connect, whether through the use of technology or by providing teachers with opportunities to include real world skills that help their students develop the means to address any situation," Professor Tan Oon Seng, Dean, Teacher Education, National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, said.
