Abu Dhabi: School bully victim Loujain Hussain, along with her parents, met the administration of the school where she was attacked in the presence of an Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) representative.

The meeting was scheduled to discuss whether or not she will remain enrolled at her school.

Earlier this week, Loujain’s family claimed the school refused her entry on the first day of term as they would be unable to take responsibilty for her.

Loujain’s family have lodged a complaint with Adec as the schoolgirl wants to continue at the school.

Adec advisers, Loujain’s parents and even a local psychiatrist have all advised her to move to another school from her current one, where the 11 year-old was beaten up by a group of Grade 4 students in April.

“It is not wise to take her back to the same school as this will trigger painful memories and reinforce the state of fear, lack of confidence and poor self-esteem [which her parents reported she has been] experiencing,” Dr Yousuf Al Hadi, Consultant Psychiatrist at Al Noor Hospital, told Gulf News.

The incident left Loujain in a coma for around three weeks at Shaikh Khalifa Medical City as she suffered brain haemorrhage and permanent damage to the left-field vision in both her eyes.

“A girl her age just wants to be around friends at her old school,” an Adec representative told Gulf News.

“It is an understandable request, but everybody is against it,” he added.

Mahran Hussain, Loujain’s 22 year-old brother, told Gulf News, that the school denied Loujain enrolment for the 2012-13 school year.

A spokesman for the school has yet to comment on the claims.

So far no details regarding the conclusions reached during the meeting have been revealed as Loujain’s parents have refrained from contacting the media until further notice.

Adec said that it will give details at a later stage.
