Fresh batch emerges from Al Maktoum College

37 students from 6 UAE varsities complete cultural diversity and leadership skills programmes

Dundee  Al Maktoum College of Higher Studies in Dundee, Scotland, on Monday celebrated the graduation of the 13th batch of graduates from the cultural diversity and leadership skills programmes.

The ceremony saw the graduation of 37 students from six Emirati universities who were under a scholarship programme in Al Maktoum College.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and minister of finance.

The graduates were enrolled in a winter training programme which began on February 13, 2011, and included field visits, workshops, and lectures at Oxford University, University of Dundee University and the University of Aberdeen.

Non-profit institution

The Al Maktoum College functions as an independent and non- profit international research-led college of higher education. Established in 2001, Al Maktoum College seeks to mould the next generation of scholars through research-led postgraduate programmes within a multi-cultural context.

The patron and sponsor of the college is Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and minister of finance, whose vision for multi-culturalism is at the heart of Al Maktoum College.

The college offers postgraduate programmes including masters and PhD studies through the Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Graduate School at Al Maktoum College.

The college aims at promoting intelligent debate and understanding of Islam and the role of Muslims in the contemporary world. "We are a place of knowledge and reflection on the issues facing a diverse and multi-cultural world in the twenty-first century," stated a communique issued by the college.
