Dubai: Students will have a forum to discuss global concerns in a context that closely parallels the real world.

The Dubai International Academy will on Wednesday inaugurate its third Dubai International Academy Model United Nations (Diamun) Conference 2011.

Diamun is aThimun (The Hague International Model United Nations) affiliated conference, in which students are given the opportunity to hone their talents, skills and aptitudes as ambassadors of member-states of the United Nations. In a Model United Nations, such as Diamun 2011, students learn vital skills in research, writing, speaking, consensus building and conflict resolution as they step into the role of delegates for the countries they represent.

Theme

Around 416 future global leaders representing 28 schools from nine countries, will gather at Diamun 2011 between March 23 and 26. This year's Diamun will be held under the theme "The Advancement of Technology".

Diamun will use this theme as a vehicle to discuss the impact of technology on topics such as: disarmament and international security; social, humanitarian and cultural concerns; and issues surrounding the economic and financial health of the world community.
