Dubai: The Dubai Early Childhood Development Centre (DECDC), a centre for the Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai, organised a series of campaigns to raise awareness on autism, reaching out to hospitals and government entities.

The initiative comes as a part of CDA’s vision to support children with autism by empowering them to become equal members of society, and launching useful community programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting public awareness about this disorder.

Dr Bushra Al Mulla, Director of DECDC, said: “This move is in line with our vision of creating awareness and understanding amongst the community about autism and early intervention thus enabling children with autism to integrate within the community. We also work on driving the role of partners through activating their CSR programmes in support of this vulnerable group.”

She added: “DECDC continues to launch flourishing initiatives that provide children with complete care, in cooperation with strategic partners.”

The campaign included a number of educational lectures containing a comprehensive definition on autism, its syndromes and its causes.
