Move to ensure effective communication channels are established between Abu Dhabi school community and Abu Dhabi Education Council
Abu Dhabi: A school advisory committee comprising 11 school principals has been formed to ensure that effective communication channels are established between the Abu Dhabi school community and the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC).
Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, director-general of ADEC, made the announcement in a meeting held yesterday at the Shangri-La Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
The school principals will have an active role in improving cooperation and coordination with school administrations regarding issues related to developing the performance of students and teachers.
"ADEC will refer comments and suggestions received from schools to the advisory committee for review and feedback. The committee will in turn send its recommendations to ADEC's P-12 Executive Committee, for approval and implementation", said Al Khaili.
Sub groups
Committee members will be divided into sub-groups that will be responsible for specific concerns, such as curriculum, student performance, teacher professional development and monitoring the new school model to be implemented starting in the coming school year.
Al Khaili indicated that the committee members were carefully selected based on specific criteria, such as the performance of principals during professional development programmes, English language skills and student performance in English, Math, Science and Arabic (EMSA) and Common Educational Proficiency Assessment (CEPA) in their schools.
