Dubai: An auction of personal items scheduled for later this month is being sponsored by Tatweer, a member of Dubai Holdings.
Signature, the personal belonging and art auction held under the patronage of Shaikha Manal Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Women Establishment, will take place at Emirates Towers Terrace on October 18 and will contain collectible items from prominent UAE families.
All proceeds from the auction will go to the 'Dubai Cares' campaign launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Saeed Al Muntafiq, Executive Chairman of Tatweer said: "We are honoured to announce our sponsorship of this signature auction, as we would like to help raise substantial funds for the campaign."
Meanwhile students put their brains into action to raise funds for the campaign during a university level quiz hosted yesterday by the Dubai Knowledge Village Department of Student Services and Programmes (DSSP).
Participation
DKV Quizmasters 2007, held at the Dubai Knowledge Village Conference Centre, raised funds through participation and entry fees. Sponsored by universities based in the academic cluster, more than 11 campus-based institutions participated in the contest that was hosted by dubaiquiz.com. The team from MAHE-Manipal Dubai campus emerged as winners with BITS Pilani Dubai coming a close second.
Dr Ayoub Kazim, Executive Director at Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City, part of TECOM Investments, said: "The tremendous interest demonstrated by our students and universities indicates their high level of commitment ... in the 'Dubai Cares' initiative. We are confident the evening's proceeds will help give a better future for the campaign's ultimate beneficiaries."
Meanwhile, Dubai Cultural Council will organise plays during Eid Al Fitr, the proceeds of which will go to Dubai Cares.
