Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) has approved the names of 205 students for its scholarship programme.

The 205 students were chosen following examinations and interviews in which 1,002 students took part, with 25 students being accepted in the museums scholarship programme which was set up as per an agreement signed between ADEC and the Toursim Development and Investment Company (TDIC).

The programme provides students with the opportunity to study in some of the most prestigious universities in the country. It will also enhance the scientific and operational capabilities of students by developing their innovative abilities in their specialised fields.

Mona Majid Al Mansouri, director of the department of guidance and scholarships at the council, said that the programme provides students with educational opportunities that will help better prepare them the job market thereby improving the emirate’s economic and social development.

Al Mansouri said this was part of the council’s vision towards building a knowledge-based economy, adding that only students who attain above an 85 per cent high school average or a 3.00 GPA can apply for the programme.
