1.       According to the parent-school contract, parents will have to provide their respective childrens’ schools with copies of all reports for each child including medical and psychological reports. It says, “parents will be asked to withdraw their child if the school suspects that vital information about special needs [was] deliberately withheld.”

2.       All Muslim students will have to attend Islamic studies from Grade 1 to 12/year 13 inclusive.

3.       All Arab students registered at the school with Arab passports will have to study Arabic as a first language from Grade 1 to 12 inclusive.

4.       It is mandatory for non-Arab students to study Arabic from Grade 1 to 9 inclusive. No exemptions from this rule will me made.

5.       The contract also lays out terms on refunds. If a student attends school for two weeks or less, a one month’s fee will be deducted. If a student attends for a period ranging between two weeks and a month, two month’s fees will be deducted. If the student attends for over a month, three month’s fees will be deducted.

6.       The contract is legally binding and can be used in a court of law.

7.       There is no guarantee by school for a student’s progress in the school. The onus is on the parents as to which school they select for their child.

8.       The contract is meant for all schools in Dubai with no exceptions.

9.       According to the contract, any parents who take to social media and end up defaming the school could risk sanctions from the school including the expulsion of their child from that school.

10.   Schools have the right to alter their individual contracts after a mutual agreement with parents and final approval from the KHDA.
