The Vice-President was greeted by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works. Shaikh Mohammad was briefed on plans for projects that are being carried out by the ministry for federal bodies and ministries. Dubai: A three-phase development programme for remote areas in the UAE was given the go-ahead by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, during an inspection visit to the Ministry of Public Works Sunday.

Shaikh Mohammad ordered the setting up of utilities and an integrated infrastructure in remote areas that will contribute to changing them into advanced urban cities possessing all the elements for providing Emiratis with a dignified life.

He also emphasised the right of the future generations to enjoy the finest level of services the country can give, the same way their fathers are enjoying the fruit of what their forefathers had planted.

"The development, for which we lay the foundation today through this comprehensive plan designed by the ministry, guarantees to meet the needs of the remote regions and rural areas in all parts of our country in healthcare, education, housing, roads, water and all the essential services," Shaikh Mohammad stressed.

Shaikh Mohammad was received by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works, the ministry's undersecretary, and a number of directors and employees.

Shaikh Mohammad praised the Ministry of Public Works and its entire team led by the Shaikh Hamdan for striving to achieve the ‘UAE Vision 2021' and for translating into practice the slogan of the federal government strategy ‘Citizen First'.

Shaikh Mohammad inspected the infrastructure development model set by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for different areas in the emirates.

Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

Shaikh Mohammad also listened during the presentation to a series of guidelines that ensure the continuous implementation of the national plan over the coming years.

Engineer Nadia Musallam, Director General of the Urban Planning Department, gave the presenation and explained the national comprehensive plan for improving remote and rural areas in the UAE until the year 2030.

She pointed out that the plan consists of a series of goals and initiatives distributed across the span of three time periods, which are short-term, mid-term and long-term.

"The studies [being conducted] were not limited only to construction needs, but also took into consideration other factors such as economic, financial, cultural, social and environmental conditions, in addition to population density, the integrated design of road and transportation network, and ease of accession services and utilities, and other urban planning criteria," she said.
