Dubai: Dubai Police are issuing traffic fines with new voice command technology, the Chief of Dubai Police said.

Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, said on Tuesday that a special device is being used by traffic police to issue fines which speeds up the process.

“Motorists who are breaking traffic laws will be easily fined with the voice command method.”

Lt General Dahi said that when police spot motorists breaking traffic rules the police give a voice command to the operations room by reading the plate number, the car’s code and all other details of the offending vehicle. This information is sent automatically to the police operations room and the fine is registered against that specific car.

Lt General Dahi said that if any mistake happens while giving the voice command against the vehicle then the traffic fine will be deleted immediately.

“This helps police to be more alert while patrolling the road,” said Lt General Dahi.

He said that the new system has been in place since early this year.

He said the system was implemented by the General Department of Electronics Services in collaboration with the General Department of Traffic.

He stated that these devices are a kind of mobile phone with special specifications.

“The system is the first of its type and it saves time and effort of both the police and the motorists involved in traffic offences. He explained that motorists are informed about the fines via an SMS on their mobile phone or through e-mail,” he said.

Lt General Dahi said the fines and pictures of the place of the violation are sent by SMS or email to the motorist.
