Dubai: Service on the Red Line of Dubai Metro was disrupted around noon on Wednesday, causing commuters considerable inconvenience.

Hundreds of commuters were stuck for at least 20 minutes at a number of stations, with trains remaining stationary.

Though a senior official from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said the disruption was for no more than 10 minutes, several commuters who spoke to Gulf News insisted they were stuck for more than 20 minutes.

“I got stuck at Al Karama Metro station for more than 20 minutes along with dozens of others. The train was at the platform but it was not moving,” said a commuter on condition of anonymity.

Another passenger said the train he was travelling on was stuck twice at two different stations for around 10 minutes each.
