Dubai: Two Indian workers have denied cheating a pub dancer and sexually exploiting her by forcing her to have sex with a clubber for Dh2,000 at a five-star hotel.

Prosecutors charged the suspects, 31-year-old S.J. and 29-year-old S.D., with exploiting the economic condition of the Indian dancer and forcing her to work in the sex trade under threat and pressure.

The suspects allegedly threatened to keep the 23-year-old dancer unfed and warned that they would beat and lock her up if she refused to have sex with pleasure seekers, according to records.

"No I didn't do that… I am innocent," argued S.J. when Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad levelled the charge of human trafficking against him.

His compatriot, S.D., also pleaded not guilty and denied his charges.

According to the bill of charges, the suspects violated the human trafficking law by exploiting the dancer, J.M.'s, poverty and the fact that she didn't know the country's conditions before they forced her to work as a prostitute.

They employed her against her will and forced her to sleep with men for money which they pocketed.

Records said S.J., who managed the pub, brought her to Dubai to work as a dancer before he agreed, behind her back, with a 33-year-old Pakistani visitor to have sex with her for Dh2,000. He repeatedly threatened not to feed her and to lock her up in case she refused to work in the sex trade.

Meanwhile, S.D. drove her to the five-star hotel where police found her in the visitor's room.

"I saw her at the dance floor and liked her. I arranged with S.J. to have sex with her for a full day for Dh2,000 … I paid my Dh2,400 [including the dancer's charges] bill and left...

"S.D. phoned me around 5am and took my room number … shortly after that, the dancer came up to my room. I noticed that she was weak and pale ... When I asked her why, she said she had family problems and that her mother was sick … then she spoke to her mother. I didn't have sex with her because she was in a bad mood.

"I slept while she remained seated in the room … around 10am, I woke up after I heard knockings on my door. It was the police…," claimed the Pakistani visitor in his statement.

The trial continues.
